Those that want to do further study can also do the Advanced Diploma in Skin Therapy or continue on to a university degree in dermal science.

COURSE DELIVERY OPTIONS

This course is delivered face-to-face or via distance. All practical training is done at ACTI in Canberra. Our facilities are state-of-the-art and specially designed to meet the needs of this course. Our specialised equipment, quality skin care and fully functional treatment rooms all contribute to ACTI’s second to none learning experience.

Full Time: 2.5 days per week

Part-Time: one full day and one evening

Distance Education: theoretical learning to be completed at home with practical training at ACTI. Please note distance studies are not available to overseas students.

COURSE DURATION

We know that everyone’s schedules are different. ACTI’s course options allow flexibility to balance work, family and study commitments.

Full-time and part-time options are available. Study full-time for 25 hours or 2.5 days per week for 12 months, or part-time for 12 hours per week for 18 months. While learning hands-on in the classroom, you’ll also complete training in our Student Salon where you will gain real-life industry experience providing treatments for paying clients. Enjoy the perks of school holiday breaks that align with the ACT school holidays.

Distance students are offered the flexibility of studying at their own pace but will be expected to attend practical classes on campus. Practical will occur approximately 5-6 weeks. The regularity of the practical classes will depend on the units being undertaken as some require more practical work than others.

Timetables will be sent to enrolled students as part of the orientation pack.

PRICING

Domestic Student’s Total Tuition Fee: $18000

All Students will commence their course as Full Fee-Paying students. Students needs to pay $500 (no-refundable) Initially followed by monthly payments of $972.22 per month until the total tuition fee is paid.

Where student cancels or fails the course, no tuition fee will be refunded.

Please note:

ACTI is approved to access funds to deliver government subsidised training under an ACT training initiative funding agreement.

If students are eligible to be trained under government subsidised training Program, then student will pay monthly installments until they the pay co-contribution of the course fee which is $3,930, but If student is indigenous or disabled, then they need to pay, monthly installments only until they pay $3,430.

BEAUTY KIT FEE

In the beauty industry like many others, there are tools that are used to perform treatments. To ensure health and hygiene students will be required to pay for a beauty kit of $1,500 (excl. GST). The beauty kit includes basic make-up, make-up brush kit, linen, scrubs, textbook and manicure and pedicure equipment. Any part of the beauty kit can be replaced at cost by the student.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

ACTI courses are in high-demand and spaces are limited. Our students must demonstrate that they hold a suitable level of language, learning and numeracy skills to complete this course.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE COURSE IS FULL?

We will put you straight onto the waiting list if this course is at capacity.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

You may be eligible to receive ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) if you have previous work experience or training. This will allow you to be deemed competent in certain areas, which will exempt you from some elements of the course including assessments. COURSE CONTENT

The SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy has 29 units of competency which are made up of 20 core units and 9 elective units. We’ve selected all of the units you need to commence your career as a beauty therapist. There are prerequisite units that must be completed for some of the units of competency. Those units with a pre-requisite are identified by an *asterisk.

STUDENT SALON

ACTI’s Student Salon is where you will practice and refine your skills for paying clients. This is especially important for those students that are not working in the industry or working in a specialised sector of the beauty industry and need to build their other skills they are learning. You’ll be providing services on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis and gain valuable experience treating real clients while being guided by your educator.
